Housewives Should Be Paid Social Insurance
Whether the housewives should receive social insurance had been discussed heatly since the traditional family roles change markedly. Since homemaking is not considered as employment, a homemaker is not covered by social insurance. As I am concerned, homemakers should receive social insurance.
Opponents argue that the value of housework is the responsibility of the family unit, not government. In fact, they do not really realize the economic and social value of housework. A survey display that a homemaker will earn a stunning 30,000 pounds, if people pay for them as the average wages of professional tasks. So, homemakers save a considerable sum of money for the family, and their work also contributes to the GDP of a country. Furthermore, the homemakers can create a stable family structure that is essential for social and economic development.
The opposition always considers that the homemaker is enough to ensure them a quite stable life with the money that their husband provides. But if housewives lose their husbands or divorce, they will be trapped in the predicament that they do not have adequate money to live. Opponents contend that the wife may receive alimony from their husband. However, do not forget that the alimony is unstable independence. Because it is not in provision. Therefore, the compensation for a homemaker is completely necessary to ensure the equal security of citizens.
All in all, paying housewives social insurance is perfectly legitimate. For we
should grant them the equal social security they deserve.
