Nobody spoke until they realized that the elevator wasn't moving. “Great,” the red-haired lady said sarcastically (讽刺地). The man with a black briefcase pulled the red alarm button and said, “Now we just have to wait for help.” Rosa’s mom smiled, “I’m Maria, in 7L, and this is my daughter, Rosa. The landlord isn’t listening to our complaints. Maybe if we got together and pressured him, he would fix the elevator.” The man in jogging shorts nodded, “Yes. You have a point. I’m Saul, 8R.” Then one by one, everyone in the elevator introduced himself or herself as they waited.

After introducing one another, they continued talking about how to get the landlord to fix the elevator. “Perhaps we could write a letter and have everyone in the building sign it. I can write the letter,” Rosa’s mother suggested. The other three agreed to review the letter and help get signatures from all the tenants. Just then the elevator started working again. As it made its way down to the first floor, Rosa felt proud of her mother for getting everyone to work together. Maybe this building would turn out as friendly as the old one. At the very least, it would have a working elevator. 听力原文:

W: Hi, Jason, did you have a good day yesterday? I went shopping with Sally. We really enjoyed ourselves. M: Well, we lost our volleyball match. We all felt sad. But in the afternoon I went to the cinema to see Road to the Stars. It was as good as I had expected. (Text 2)

M: Gosh! It’s good to be home! That’s the last time we holiday in the Lake District. W: Oh, come on! It was beautiful! At least it didn’t snow.

M: I would have preferred snow to constant rain. We had never seen the sun there! (Text 3)

M: Hello, Emily. What are you doing here?

W: I’m waiting for my sister Cindy. She is looking at clothes over there with her friend. M: That tall girl with long black hair?

W. Er, no. My sister is a little short and she colored her hair red. (Text 4)

M: Have you received the money I sent?

W: Yes, I just got it. It’s 500 dollars. But I may need another 500 dollars. Well, Dad, the thing is that the housing rent has gone up to 850 dollars.

M: Has it? OK then. I’ll send you another 500 dollars tomorrow. (Text 5)

W: Are you working at your uncle’s restaurant this summer again?

M: I’d like to do something else. I think I’ll do something in the garden. I’d prefer to work there. (Text 6)

W: So, how did you get on at the wildlife park?

M: Well, there’s such a lot to see. The only thing was, my daughter was too young and we were not allowed to get close to tigers or feed them. (6) Anyway I did drive my car through the park and saw wolves and bears wander freely there. W: Isn’t that a bit dangerous?

M: Well, you can’t go round on motorbikes or in soft-top cars. This is a strict rule you must obey. (7) And keepers of the park are traveling around in a special car all the time, so they’re on hand if there’s trouble.

W: Sounds amazing! (Text 7)

W: So what did you think of Mr. Jones? (8) He applied for the customer service manager. Do you think that he has the right personality for the job.

M: Well he has been a teacher for years, so he is probably very good at dealing with people and he’s into sport, so he’s probably quite healthy and energetic.

W: I’m not convinced of him. I think he’d make a better travel agent or car salesman than a customer service manager. He’s a bit too sure of himself.

M: Well, (9) the director needs to have our advice before he makes his decision. W: OK.

M: (10) It’s one o’clock now. We need to tell him what we think before two, as he has a committee

meeting at 2:30 about the parking problems. (Text 8)

M: (11) Aren’t you the woman who gave the computer lecture at the city hall last winter? W: (11) Yes, it’s me. You look familiar.

M: I’m so glad I took your lecture. I thought that it would be impossible for me to learn how to use a computer at my age, (12) but now I’m exchanging emails with my grandchildren. It’s the happiest thing after my retirement.

W: That’s great. It’s rewarding to do something meaningful in my spare time. That was a good experience for me, too, (13) because that was a change of pace from my daytime job as a sales representative. (Text 9)

M: Hi, are you a new student?

W: Yes. (14) I’m doing the English language course. And you? Which course are you doing? M: European history. I’m Zack. By the way, what’s your name? W: Monica, I’m from Poland. Nice to meet you.

M: Yeah, me too. So which part of Poland are you from? W: I’m from the south, Krakow. And where are you from?

M: I’m from California, but my grandfather’s Polish. my mum’s dad. He’s from Warsaw originally. W: Wow! (15) And are you enjoying London?

M: (15) Yeah, London’s cool! I’m staying with some friends of my mum’s and they’re really nice, too. How about you? Where are you staying?

W: Oh, (16) I’m in a student hotel – it’s really good. There are students from all over the world, so I’m meeting lots of interesting people. (Text 10)

M: Does blogging work? It seems that it does. (17) Jeff Jarvis started his blog in 1995, complaining about a Dell computer that he’d just bought. He wrote blogs every week describing the service he received from Dell. He was very direct in his comment and described all the conversations he had, the e-mails he sent. and the reactions he received. His blog started to become famous and more and more people started their own blogs complaining about Dell. (18) Finally, Jarvis wrote to the Chief Marketing Officer of Dell. It was only then that he received an apology and got his money back. Jarvis then went on to become one of the most famous bloggers. In another case, Dell, Hewlett Packard and Sony recalled their computer batteries which were catching fire, after bloggers had brought the problem to the public’s attention. They put pressure on the companies which produced the batteries to help the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission to search into the case of the burning batteries. (19) However, bloggers should be careful about the comments they post. Companies can turn very angry if they think the comments are false. (20) Take the Dutch Royal Shell Group, for example, they obtained an official order, which stopped a former Shell employee from demanding a sum of money from the company.

The Annual School Sports Festival

To enrich students’ school life and arouse students’ enthusiasm for exercise, the Annual School Sports Festival was held in our school last week. The event, from Wednesday to Friday, turned out to be a great success. Students participated actively in track and field events and some fun games, like tug-of-war competition. They, either fighting on their own or working as a team, went all out to win glory for their classes.

The various activities at the sports festival not only offer students more chances to build up their strength but taught students the essence of sports – persistence and team work.

第二节:读后续写

Para 1: The next day, standing in the front of the class, Lizzie began to dance. She spoke sometimes, too, in French of course. Cupping her hands, Lizzie created the hills around her village. She hugged the space in front of her to show how she and her mother said good-bye to their relatives. When she spread her arms and mimic the airplane and the flight to America, the others laughed and clapped. Lizzie nearly cried when she acted out the reunion with her father at the airport in the United States. Her classmates nodded as if they understood exactly how she had felt when she first arrived here.

Para 2: When she finished, Lizzie looked around, meeting the eyes of the other students. She could see in their faces that although they couldn't understand her words, they understood her movements. Lizzie smiled and spoke in the limited English she knew, “Thank you very much!” They were young people just like her, trying to adjust to a new country, trying to learn English. They all had the same challenges to face. Lizzie believed they would have a bond between them. “It’s so good to have some friends!” Lizzie thought, a radiant smile lighting up her face.

W: I’ve just lost my work! M: The computer crashed?

W: Yeah. It’s the third time today. (7) I keep doing the same thing over and over and over! It’s getting really annoying! Maybe I need to ask others for help. M: Aren’t you saving your work?

M: Oh, they do serve meat too, very good roast meat and fish and (10) for dessert they’ve got cakes that are a bit like Turkish ones. W: (10) like Turkish ones!

(19) My parents are doctors and they named me after a famous violinist called Itzhak Perlman. Itzhak Perlman was born in Israel in 1945. Itzhak is an Israeli name. The spelling is I-T-Z-H-A-K. Its pronunciation is similar to Isaac. My parents admired Itzhak Perlman because he was a great musician and he wasn’t afraid to try out new ideas in his music. (20) I don’t play a musical instrument, but I’m a painter and I often listen to Itzhak Perlman’s music when I paint. His music inspires me. I love my name Isaac Evans, for it sounds musical and friendly.

M: You should ask your parents to deal with your brother. Your exams are more important. Your parents should understand that.

M: My problem is I just can’t remember anything from History. I read a page and then ten minutes later I’ve forgotten it.

M: OK! So my talk tonight is called Psychology in Advertising, but I’m going to start with a little story. In the 18th century, hardly anyone in Prussia ate potatoes or rice, because the main meal for almost everyone was bread. But there was a problem with bread: in those days, sometimes the wheat didn’t grow very well, people, especially poor people, would have nothing to eat.

So when the king called Frederick heard about the potato, he immediately ordered everyone in the country to start growing potatoes. But to his surprise, they refused. Frederick was a very clever man, and although there were no psychologists in 1774, he certainly had a talent for understanding the psychology of his people. So he soon came up with a very interesting plan. First, he planted potatoes in his palace garden. Next, he sent soldiers to guard it. As soon as people saw the garden and the soldiers, they started asking each other “What could be in that field that is worth so much?” And of course, as soon as they found out that the field was full of potatoes, they all wanted some. You see, once people believed they were not allowed to eat potatoes, they immediately wanted to have them. And that’s a good psychology. 第二节到此结束。现在, 你有两分钟时间将试卷上的答案转涂到客观题答题卡上。 停顿02′00″
