In a recent television interview, the Malaysian Prime Minister expressed his deep concern about economic situation in his country. Malaysia has undergone fiancial difficulties from the combined impact of the world financial crisis, decline in world oil prices and its own prolonged recession. The direct reason for those difficulties was that investor lacked confidence in the Malaysian economy.//

Due to reform of the currency system, high inflation and major financial frauds, most people had little confidence in domestic

commercial banks and even doubted the financial policies for the Central Bank and the government. The government and the rubber industrial companies are in severe disputes over the settlement of the latter's tax bill. In order to mark the 100th anniversary of the discovery of the Library Cave at Dunhuang, a grand Dunhuang art show is scheduled to open/is held from July through August this year at the National Museum of Chinese History. It is reported that, different from previous Dunhuang art shows, this one is the largest in size and boasts of the greatest number of exhibits (on display). Many exhibits are being shown to the public for the first time. //

In ancient China, there were a form of dance which was performed at ritual ceremonies to frighten off the ghosts and to relieve people of epidemics. Masks were used by performers when they danced. In the Southern and Northern Dynasties as well as in the Sui and Tang dynasties, makeups / masks were used by performers (at the ritual ceremonies) to represent certain souls or saints / divinities.// In the Ming Dynasty, division of roles among actors became more classified, and the facial makeups were gradually standardized. In the Qing Dynasty, with the springing up of Beijing Opera, the art of facial makeups was increasingly perfected. The earliest extant one among the famous gardens in China is the Pavilion of the Drunk Old Man in Chu County, Anhui Province. It owes it fame to a piece of prose written by Ou Yang Xiu, a great/celebrated scholar of the Sung Dynasty, commemorating the Pavilion. Besides, in Suzhou, The Canglang Pavilion, built in 1044, is equally famous. The Pavilion got its name from Canglang, a little stream nearby.//

We are aware that Europe is reevaluating its relationship with China. Most European countries have been aware of the importance of China. China, as a potentially huge market, has been very attractive to Europe. Therefore, many European countries feel that Europe should not adopt an ostrich policy toward China. Although policies concerning China differ among various European countries, their acknowledgement of China’s importance is the same.//

China’s rise will not stand in the way or pose a threat to any other country. China does not seek hegemony now, nor will it do so in the future, even after it becomes powerful. Xu Ting could not believe his luck when he discovered the generous ATM in Guangzhou in April 2006. Welcome to the Former Residence of Sun Yat-sen. It was in this two storey house in the style of European country, that Sun Yat-sen, a great forerunner of China’s democratic revolution, and his wife Soong Ching Ling had lived since June 1918.Before that, Sun Yat-sen had no fixed place to live for quite a long time. Some overseas Chinese learned this and raised funds and bought the house for Sun Yat-sen.It was in this house that his revolutionary thinking reached its highest peak / height.//

On March 12, 1925, Sun Yat-sen passed away in Beijing. He left, as was stated in his will, the residence, his books and the furniture to his wife Soong Ching Ling as mementoes.After the anti-Japanese war, Soong Ching Ling donated the house to the Kuomingtang Government then as a permanent memorial site of Sun Yat-sen. In 1961,the former residence was designated by the State Council as one of China’s first major government-protected cultural sites.

New report:

The central government decided to cut down on pollution by calling for a Car Free Day last September. Since then, in the city of Kunming, Yunnan Province, the last Saturday of every month is officially “car free”, apart from public transportation, police and emergency vehicles, making Kunming the first city in China to adopt this initiative on a regular basis. Frequent vehicle restrictions have triggered debate among the public. Some questioned the legitimacy of this move. Some asked whether confining their cars at home has deprived them of their rights on free use of private possessions. Others complained of China’s far less developed public transportation infrastructure in some areas

Britain and China start from a strong foundation, with our bilateral relations in excellent shape. In 1950 Britain was the first western country to recognize the People’s Republic of Special Administrative Region. Since 1997 our exchanges have multiplied dramatically bilaterally but also multilaterally where we share common interests and responsibilities as Permanent Members of the UN Security Council. //

As China embarks on its new phase of development, the UK is ready for partnership. British and Chinese universities can form new partnerships to raise skills and management capacity. Our research institutions and scientist can collaborates to develop the technologies to make innovative produces, for example dealing with the environmental challenges which must be solved to guarantee future quality of life. Customer-specific mass production does not only require high demands on the production process. You also need to cooperate and coordinate with partners along the chain. The target is a cooperation with suppliers, other manufacturers, retailers and final customers. Customized individual products means also deliveries of small quantities often in different designs, colors, sizes, properties etc. in short time.
